Bank of America to cut online stock trade fees

Bank of America Corp.’s retail brokerage unit said on Thursday that it was cutting online stock-trading fees for customers by up to 75 percent, to as low as $5 a trade.

Investors with Bank of America (BAC.N: Quote, Profile, Research) checking accounts can now buy or sell shares online for $7 or $10 a trade, depending on the type of checking account they have.

Affluent clients using Bank of America’s wealth management services can now make trades for $5.

Customers who only have a relationship with Bank of America Investment Services online can make trades for $14.00.

The new prices were reduced from the $19.95 that Bank of America Investment Services had charged all customers.

Bank of America to issue branded AmEx cards The deal calls for the Charlotte, N.C.-based bank to issue and market the cards through more than 5,800 branches and its online banking service. (BAC.N: Quote, Profile, Research) Chief Financial Officer Alvaro de Molina on Friday exercised 105,000 stock options in the No. 2 U.S. bank, for a gross profit of about $2.29 million, a regulatory filing showed. De Molina, who became CFO last September, exercised the options at $30.68 per share, at a total cost of about $3.22 million.
