Fliers pick Las Vegas McCarran as favorite airport
McCarran International, the sprawling airport serving fast-growing Las Vegas, topped travelers list of favorite big North American airports, satisfaction tracker J.D. Power said in a report issued here Thursday.
Lines for check-in and security checks move quickly, terminals are clean and its easy to get around, says Jim Gaz of J.D. Power. The airport, serving more than 44 million passengers annually, increased the number of security checkpoints to 34 from 25 in the last 16 months. Its just an efficient airport, he says.
In separate measures of traveler satisfaction with airlines, New York-based JetBlue received top marks among four discounters. Houston-based Continental topped the list of eight traditional airlines.

Champ Car returning to Road America, dropping Las Vegas
INDIANAPOLIS - Champ Car will return to a longtime venue next year by racing again at Wisconsin's Road America course while dropping Las Vegas from the schedule.
The Road America race in Elkhart Lake, Wis., is scheduled Sept. 24. It was not on the schedule this season after being a fixture since 1982.
Attendance, sponsorships and revenue had declined for the race in recent years, but Champ Car President Steve Johnson said Tuesday that fans, sponsors and teams pushed for a return to the 14-turn, 4.048-mile track.

The new US Airways Group Inc., formed by Tempe-based America West Airlines' acquisition of the old US Airways last year, is beginning its biggest push yet to operate under a single name.

It's the issue that ranks the top 10 rookies on each of the American League West rosters, and the rookies were seeing if Baseball America had seen fit to include them.
