ABC names Good Morning America exec

Veteran CBS producer Jim Murphy has been appointed by ABC News as senior executive producer of Good Morning America, bringing a fresh viewpoint to the eternal battle with NBCs Today show.

Murphy was most recently executive producer of the CBS Evening News before leaving late last year.

Tom Cibrowski, who has been working in the control room of Good Morning America for the past four years, was appointed the programs executive producer.

ABC follows a trend set by the other two network morning programs. Instead of a single executive producer for the broadcast, there are essentially two bosses, so the logistics of running a daily, live two-hour broadcast dont overwhelm the need for strategic planning.
