Dal prices skyrocket across America
Indians in America have not been able to escape the increasing prices of food commodities that are being seen across India.
Prices of dals in America have soared after the Indian government banned the export of dal in an attempt to stabilise spiraling domestic prices, caused reportedly due to supply shortages and inflation.
Storeowners have asked customers not to hoard supplies with the assurance that dals are now being imported from countries like Australia, South Africa and Turkey.
It has already been ordered. It takes about a month to get here. After that the prices will go down, said Dipesh Patel, Manager, Patel Stores, New York.

U.S. majority says Wal-Mart bad for America – poll
CHICAGO – Some 56 percent of U.S. consumers think Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is bad for America, according to a Zogby International poll released Thursday by one of the retailer's most vocal critics.
The national poll – commissioned by WakeUpWalMart.com, a union-funded group that has been pressuring Wal-Mart to raise employee wages and benefits – surveyed 1,012 randomly chosen adults on their attitudes toward the world biggest retailer.
Respondents were asked to choose which of two statements more closely fit their personal opinions.

North America market: 32-inch LCD TV prices fall below US$800
The LCD TV market has seen aggressive price cutting during the holiday season in the North America market, according to Taiwan-based home appliance makers.
Some second tier LCD TV vendors have been offering their 32-inch and 26-inch models for US$899 and US$599, respectively, this month. White box vendors are even offering 32-inch models priced at US$799, the home appliance makers pointed out.

Air Products to increase product prices in North America
Air Products & Chemicals Inc. (APD.N: Quote, Profile, Research) on Tuesday said it will raise schedule pricing on liquid-bulk oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen by 10 percent, and argon and helium by 20 percent for merchant and government customers in North America.
The industrial gas supplier said it will also increase its monthly service charge schedule pricing for storage and supply equipment and eliminate discounts from schedule pricing for standard service offerings.
