Nokia Siemens Networks Names North America Head
While Nokia Siemens Networks will primarily address Europe from its Helsinki, Finland, headquarters, it will establish operations in most major regions of the world. Its scheduled to begin formal operations by the first of January 2007.
Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) fleshed out its business unit and named regional executives Friday. Mark Louison, currently senior vice president of North America for Nokia Networks, was named to lead the North American region.
Louison has worked across a broad spectrum of U.S. telecommunications in past years focusing primarily on wireless solutions.

Willis Group Names North America CEO
Global insurance broker Willis Group Holdings Ltd. said Thursday that Don Bailey is the new chief executive of Willis North America.
Bailey, 41, is currently chief operating officer of Willis North America. He succeeds Mario P. Vitale, 50, who moves to Zurich Financial Services as chief executive of global corporate North American operations.
Bailey joined Willis in 2003 as head of North American Risks Practice. He has been COO of Willis North America since March.

Networks eye telenovelas, a hit in Latin America
Three years ago, media advocacy groups blasted the Spanish-language television networks Univision and Telemundo for broadcasting cheesy primetime soap operas, or ''telenovelas," to American viewers, rather than creating the kinds of dramas and sitcoms found on English-language TV.
At the time, Univision and Telemundo said the sexy telenovelas, which date back to the '50s, were a cultural phenomenon, too successful to give up.
Now, in a surprising turn, some English-language networks have decided telenovelas might work for them too.

Bank of America adds 3 to London ABS team
Bank of America (BAC.N: Quote, Profile, Research) has hired three people for its asset-backed securities (ABS) team in London, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based number two U.S. bank said on Tuesday.
Adam MacDonald has joined as head of corporate securitisation from UBS (UBSN.VX: Quote, Profile, Research).
Paul Wilde has joined as the head of UK financial institutions group origination, from Egg Bank, where he was the head of corporate treasury.
Barry Hunter has joined as ABS structurer from Amethyst Corporate Finance.

ABC names Good Morning America exec
Veteran CBS producer Jim Murphy has been appointed by ABC News as senior executive producer of Good Morning America, bringing a fresh viewpoint to the eternal battle with NBCs Today show.
Murphy was most recently executive producer of the CBS Evening News before leaving late last year.
Tom Cibrowski, who has been working in the control room of Good Morning America for the past four years, was appointed the programs executive producer.

TNT Logistics North America to get new parent company
TNT has retained Goldman Sachs to handle the sale of TNT Logistics, reported to generate $4.3 billion in revenue annually. The company expects to complete the sale by the second half of 2006.
TNT Logistics employs 37,000 people worldwide, including 6,100 who work for Jacksonville-based TNT Logistics North America. About 300 of those work here.
TNT CEO Peter Bakker said the logistics business is strong but no longer fits with the company's "strategic focus going forward." TNT's postal and parcel express businesses involve vast networks to deliver items for a mass consumer
